It’s that time of the year again when we celebrate the Epiphany, the three Kings’ visit to newborn Jesus 🙏🏼 ✨Find below the recipe of the special cake baked in France for this occasion. 💡 Here is the tradition to : hide a bean in the cake, the person who find it in his/her slice becomes the King/Queen and should pick his/her 👑 So don’t forget to get some crowns for the game !

For 8 people:
– 2 puff pastry
– 200g of almond powder
– 115g of butter
– 3 eggs
– 150g of white sugar
– 1 bean
– 1 egg yolk

1. Cut 2 discs of pastry and put one in the pastry dish. Leave it for now and start preparing the almond cream 👇🏻
2. Mix the almond powder and the sugar
2. Add the eggs and mix
3. Finally add the butter and mix
4. Lay the almond cream on the disc in the dish
5. Add the bean and place the second disc on top, use some water to help you close well the two discs
4. Decorate the top disc and brush with the egg wash
5. Cut off a small hole in the centre of the top disc : It is the “chimney”. (This will prevent sides from breaking apart when steam is created in the baking)
6. Bake for 20 min in a preheated oven at 200C (400F)
