WHY I RUN 🏃🏼♀️
🏃🏼♀️Gets me out of my apartment. Since last March, I’ve spent more time inside my apartment than ever and most days if I don’t go for a run, I never leave the 700 sq ft apartment I share with Sean.
🏃🏼♀️To push myself. I’m a very competitive person and I love to race myself and see myself get faster or run further distances
🏃🏼♀️To clear my mind. Running is a form of therapy. Being outside and focusing on my breathing during a run clears my mind. I always feel better after a run
🏃🏼♀️The endorphins. Runners high is real and there is no other feeling like it. There’s something about the endorphins you get after a run but they aren’t the same as spin or strength training (those are great too!). If I start my day with a run I know it’s going to be a good day (or I’m better equipped to handle a bad day). Endorphins make you happy and I love how I feel after a run
None of these have to do with burning off calories or food I ate. It took me YEARS to get rid of that mentality and when I did running became so much more fun. When you run for the feeling and the mental health benefits it’s so much more joyful than running for punishing yourself for eating pizza the night before. Plus as mattwilpers said in my last run, you have to eat carbs to run fast. So cheers to long runs and all the carbs 🥂🥐
